Ceremonies by Jo – Independent Celebrant Services

These Terms & Conditions set out the agreement between Ceremonies by Jo (“the Celebrant”, “we”, “our”) and the client(s) (“you”, “your”) engaging our services for a ceremony. By confirming a booking, you accept and agree to the following:

1. Services Provided

Ceremonies by Jo provides bespoke celebrant-led ceremonies, including but not limited to weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, and funerals.
The Celebrant will work with you to create a personalised ceremony script, tailored to your wishes, beliefs, and values.
Please note: A celebrant-led wedding ceremony is not a legally binding marriage under UK law. You will need to complete the legal registration of marriage separately at a register office.

2. Booking & Payment

A non-refundable booking fee/deposit (amount agreed at the time of quotation) is required to secure your date.
Until the booking fee is received, the date cannot be guaranteed and may be offered to other clients.
The balance must be paid no later than 4 weeks before the ceremony date. If the balance is not received by this time, the Celebrant reserves the right to cancel the booking.
Payments can be made by bank transfer (details will be provided on request).

3. Cancellation & Refunds

If you cancel your ceremony more than 12 weeks before the date, any payments made (excluding the non-refundable booking fee) will be returned.
If you cancel between 12 and 4 weeks before the ceremony, 50% of the total fee (excluding travel costs already incurred) will be payable.
If you cancel less than 4 weeks before the ceremony, the full balance remains payable.
In the unlikely event that the Celebrant must cancel due to illness, emergency, or circumstances beyond her control, every effort will be made to find a suitable replacement celebrant. If this is not possible, all fees paid (including the booking fee) will be refunded in full, and no further liability will be accepted.

4. Travel & Additional Costs

The agreed fee covers travel within a certain radius (specified at the time of quotation). Additional mileage or overnight accommodation, if required, will be charged at cost.
Any extra costs such as venue entry fees, parking charges, or special equipment required for the ceremony must be covered by the client.

5. Ceremony Content & Responsibilities

The Celebrant will draft and share a ceremony script with you for approval. It is your responsibility to review and confirm the final script before the ceremony date.
While every effort will be made to accommodate last-minute changes, these cannot be guaranteed if requested less than 7 days before the ceremony.
You are responsible for any legal or administrative requirements (e.g. registering a marriage, arranging certificates, permissions from venues).

6. Liability

Ceremonies by Jo will take all reasonable steps to deliver your ceremony as agreed. However, we cannot be held liable for issues outside our control, including but not limited to: weather conditions, travel delays, venue restrictions, or third-party suppliers.
We are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury sustained during or after the ceremony, except where caused by proven negligence on our part.

7. Photography & Media

With your consent, the Celebrant may use photographs, video, or wording from your ceremony for marketing purposes (website, social media, brochures). You may withdraw consent at any time.

8. Data Protection

Any personal information shared with Ceremonies by Jo will be kept strictly confidential and used only for the purpose of planning and conducting your ceremony.
Information will not be shared with third parties without your consent, unless required by law.

9. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

By paying the booking fee, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
